Dr. Herbert

Veterinarian, CertAqV

Dr. Herbert's Bio

Dr. Herbert has been a vital member of the Arbor View Animal Hospital team since 2012. She is the current owner of the practice, along with her husband Ben.

At home, her pets include a Siberian Husky named Lansing and a Pomeranian named Dot. She is an avid aquarist when it comes to taking care of her 220 gallon saltwater reef fish tank. Over the years, she has had a wide variety of pets share her home, including freshwater fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, ferrets, rabbits and cats. In her free time, Dr. Herbert also loves to ride horses and compete in hunter/jumper competitions.

Dr. Herbert will never say no to sushi or dining out at local restaurants! She loves to cook and enjoys watching Top Chef. In her free time, it’s not uncommon to catch her reading the latest novel by Sarah J. Maas.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The University of Illinois in 2003. Prior to attending veterinary school, Dr. Herbert spent four years full time as a veterinary assistant at a small animal/exotic hospital. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from The University of Illinois in May of 2012. Dr. Herbert has a passion for exotic animal and avian medicine and has spent 4 years working in a wildlife medical clinic. Although she has an interest in exotic pet medicine, she is passionate about working with her dog and cat patients too!

Dr. Herbert has also completed the WAVMA Certified Aquatic Veterinarian (CertAqV) program. The CertAqV credential indicates she has attained the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to be competent in aquatic veterinary medicine. There are not many veterinarians in the United States that have this certification, and Dr. Herbert is proud to be one of them. She is excited to provide veterinary care to aquatic pets, such as fish, sharks, eels, coral, and marine invertebrates.

Dr. Herbert believes all animals deserve quality care regardless of whether they have fur, fins, scales, or feathers.

Dr. Weigel

Veterinarian
Dr. Weigel's Bio
Dr. Weigel received her Bachelor’s in Biology from Indiana University in 2015 and subsequently graduated from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. While she loves her Boilermakers, she’s a Hoosier at heart! During her college years, she was on the executive board of Purdue’s Exotic Animal Club as well as having experience in wildlife rehabilitation. During veterinary school, she completed externships at the Wildlife Center of Virginia, the Wildlife Rehabilitation of Minnesota, and also here at Arbor View. She is excited to work with feathers, scales, and fur alike! In her free time, Dr. Weigel spends time with her cat, family, and friends. She loves outdoor activities, swimming, and soccer. Dr. Weigel enjoys baking and her favorite type of food is Mexican. She is very excited to join the Arbor View family!

Dr. Love

Veterinarian

Dr. Love's Bio

Dr. Love is a 2020 graduate from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Michigan State University. 

In her spare time she enjoys cooking, video games, hiking, and playing with her ferrets. Dr. Love has a growing assortment of animals at home including traditional and non-traditional pets. She loves creating customized, naturalistic enclosures for her reptiles and spoiling all her animals endlessly.  

While in school, Dr. Love was on the board for her school’s Zoo, Exotic, Avian, and Wildlife club, Behavior Club, and Sled Dog Medicine Club. She has also worked with the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota, The Raptor Center, the Belize Wildlife and Referral Clinic, Wolf Park, and Elephant Nature Park in Thailand. As a senior veterinary student, she also completed exotic animal externships across the Midwest as well as in Australia. She really enjoys working with exotic pets and hopes to specialize in reptile and amphibian medicine in the futureDr. Love has a special interest in treating ferrets, sugar gliders, hedgehogs, aquatics, and invertebrates speciesShe is also very passionate about working with her dog and cat clients and really enjoys discussing behavior management and focusing on low stress handling in and out of the clinic. She believes all animals, regardless of species, should be handled as gently and calmly as possible. She is Fear Free Certified and an Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer.

Dr. Stephenson

Veterinarian
Dr. Stephenson's Bio

Dr. Stephenson is the newest member of the Arbor View team, coming to join us after working for a year as a mixed animal practitioner in Northern Arkansas. She loves F. Scott Fitzgerald, elephants, true crime podcasts, writing, and her home state of Kentucky. When at home, Dr. Stephenson loves to spend time with her fur babies, Fitz, Huckleberry, Baker, and Gordon, and her fiancé, Henry.

Dr. Stephenson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife and Conservation Biology from Murray State University and received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in 2019. During her time at Illinois, she served as president of the Wildlife Disease Association and the Women’s Veterinary Leadership Development Initiative. She was a team leader for Illinois’ Wildlife Medical Clinic and the public relations coordinator for the Animal Ambassadors program. During her clinical year, she completed internships at Brookfield Zoo, Center for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Nashville Zoo, and Toledo Zoo. She has a particular fondness for feathered friends, but loves all of the patients she gets to work with- furred, feathered, or scaled! Dr. Stephenson is currently earning her Master’s degree in Wildlife Forensics from the University of Florida.

Dr. Conolly

Veterinarian

Dr. Conolly's Bio
Dr. Conolly is a 2022 graduate from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. She previously received a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry from Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing video games, antiquing, and hanging out with friends and family. She currently has a cat named Jewel and a snake named Phantom but wants to expand her collection of fur babies along with her husband Peter in their new home!

During undergrad, she was a research assistant for her biology professor studying reptiles and amphibians in their natural habitat. After graduating, she took a couple years off before vet school to gather more experience. In that time, she completed an internship in the veterinary hospital at the Indianapolis Zoo, finished a 6-month long apprenticeship at the Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation center in Kendalia, Texas, and worked as a veterinary assistant at a small animal hospital in her hometown of Indianapolis, IN.

While at veterinary school, Dr. Conolly was a member of the exotics club, surgery club, and internal medicine club. She travelled to Guatemala to volunteer at ARCAS, a wildlife rehabilitation facility, as a study abroad trip just prior to the Covid-19 outbreak. During her 4th year clinical rotations, she completed externships at the Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital in Mesa, AZ and at Arbor View. After completing her externships, she was offered a position at Arbor View, which she was happy to accept!

Dr. Conolly’s favorite species to work with are reptiles and birds, but she is happy to see any species! She is Fear Free certified as well. Dr. Conolly looks forward to working with the rest of the Arbor View team to provide quality care to all her patients.

Dr. Friedman

Veterinarian

Dr. Friedman's Bio
Dr. Friedman is a 2021 graduate from the Royal Veterinary College (Hons) in London, UK, and has a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (high Hons) from the University of Michigan.

In her spare time, she enjoys rock climbing, dancing, cooking, and tabletop games. She can’t wait to adopt some furry friends now that she is stateside again!

Dr. Friedman was a member of the Zoo Animal Society, the Students for Global Health, and the Performing Arts Society while in vet school. She has also worked with the Iowa Primate Learning Sanctuary, the Center for Great Apes in Wauchula, Florida, and the Welgevonden Game Reserve and Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in South Africa.

As a rotational student, she completed exotic animal externships, including the Brookfield Zoo and very much enjoyed her time on farms across the UK and the US. She loves all critters from kittens to kinkajous and has a special interest in poultry medicine, wildlife medicine, and research.

She has also researched wild mollusks with Dr. Diarmaid O’Foighil with the University of Michigan and on duck welfare with Dr. Troy Gibson, a member of the Zoological Society of London’s Animal Welfare Committee. She is also Fear Free and Fear Free Avian Certified. She is so excited to join the team at Arbor View!
