Apiary/Bee Site Visit
APPOINTMENTMobile Veterinary Services for Bees & Apiaries
At Arbor View Animal Hospital, we are proud to offer mobile veterinary care for bees and apiaries within a 20-mile radius of our clinic. Please note: our western boundary for service is I-65, even if within the mileage limit.
Our veterinarians are experienced in honeybee health and are available to work directly with beekeepers to support healthy, productive hives. We are also members of the Honey Bee Veterinary Consortium (HBVC.org). Whether you’re a hobbyist or a commercial producer, veterinary oversight can be an important tool in maintaining colony health and staying compliant with regulations.
Why Would a Beekeeper Need a Veterinarian?
Under current FDA regulations, certain medications require a Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) or a veterinary prescription, including some antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections like European Foulbrood. Our veterinarians can assess your hives, confirm the need for treatment, and issue the necessary VFD to ensure appropriate and legal antibiotic use.
We also assist with:
- Varroa mite control strategies, including integrated pest management and evaluating mite loads
- Diagnosing and managing colony health problems, including queen failure, absconding, brood abnormalities, and nutritional issues
- Husbandry consultations to improve apiary setup, forage availability, hive placement, and seasonal management

Scheduling a Mobile Apiary Visit
Mobile visits can be scheduled for apiaries within 20 miles of our clinic, east of Interstate 65. We work with individual beekeepers, clubs, and commercial operations to provide expert care where it’s needed most—right in your own bee yard.
Whether you’re facing a health crisis or simply want to improve your management practices, our veterinarians are here to help. For more information about our mobile visits click here.
Telemedicine Consults Available
We also offer telemedicine consults for added convenience. If we have seen your hives within the past 12 months, we may be able to assess them remotely without requiring a site visit.
In addition, we can provide husbandry consultations even if we do not have a current Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) established in the last 12 months. For apiaries without an established VCPR, we cannot prescribe medications, diagnose diseases, or provide prognoses, but we can help you evaluate your management practices and environment to ensure you’re setting up your apiary for long-term success.
